KUALA LUMPUR: In conjunction with more than a century of service in Malaysia, St John Ambulance has come out with a book describing its rich 102-year-old history.
The limited edition book, titled A remarkable century of service, showcases the best of more than 10,000 photos and material highlighting the movement.
“Those involved with St John Ambulance have indirectly encouraged positive values. This establishment will continue to be a good platform to build good character among youths,” said Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah in his speech before launching the book here yesterday.
The Sultan also advised parents to enrol their children with St John Ambulance.
“This is an organisation that deserves recognition and appreciation from the public,” he added.
Meanwhile, St John Ambulance commander-in-chief Datuk Dr Low Bin Tick said the most challenging part throughout the production of the book was sourcing for the material in whatever forms.“We then took months to just sift through the material,” he said in his speech.
Only 1,500 copies of the book, priced at RM200, will be printed.
Those interested to purchase a copy can call St John Ambulance administrator Ms Chwa at 03-3373 5005.
